Our processes
We utilise the latest hardware and software systems to satisfy customer orders. Our production processes consist of the following:
Production SMT Automation
Surface Mount Technology
A fully computerized system using Siemens technology enables complete control of the surface mount placement process. Cad data supplied by the customer is imported into the Siemens software and a placement file is generated enabling boards to be built to an exact customer specification
- Three Siemens surface mount assembly lines consisting:
Line 1 = S20 and F4 (with WPC)
Line 2 = S15 and F3 (with WPC)
Line 3 = SP120 and HS180
- Two Dynapert I318 placement machines, These machines allow low volume, or pre-production PCBs to be built away from the main assembly lines.
- Three DEK249 semi auto printing machines
- MPM24X fully automatic printing machine
- Fully automatic screen printing is achieved with this machine.
- Conceptronic 60 Forced Air Convection Oven
- The consistently controlled reflow conditions created by this machine ensures solder joint quality on ALL surface mount components.
- Dynapert FAC oven
When all the lines are running, the total placement rate can be as many as 70,000 parts per hour.
80 different reels of components may be set up on each machine, and a table of standby feeders provides the opportunity for rapid program changes and minimises downtime to just the change over of the feeder table for that particular job. Five manual workstations are maintained by the company to undertake small batch prototype work, with the use of Dynapert smt placement machines if required. Customers recognize the benefit of a prototype service prior to volume production. Batches can vary from as little as one and depends on the complexity of the board.
Production PTH Automation / Procurement
Conventional Components
When both heads on both Axial Insertion machines are running 60,000 insertions/hour can be achieved
- Dynapert 90 Station Sequencing Module
- Two Dynapert twin head VCD Axial Insertion machines
- Three Cropmatic lead cropping machines
- Three Blundell CMS400 wave soldering machines
- Universal radial insertion machine
- Sixty Assembly stations with full ESD Protection
Procurement
With over 30 years experience of manufacturing assemblies to customer specifications, the company can adopt a number of different procurement policies to meet particular customer requirements.
- Free-issue whereby customers supply all the material and components necessary for assembly
- Partial free-issue where customers may choose to supply selected components with the balance to be sourced and purchased by the company
- Complete procurement through a world wide network where the company purchases all components to the customers specification from approved vendors.
All materials received are taken into a bonded storage area, and checked against customer documentation and company purchase orders.
Our policy is to notify any discrepancies by fax within one day of the materials being taken into the store. High value components are subject to 100% inspection and checking. Separate storage areas are kept for free-issue and company purchased components. Component kit assembly takes place within the storage area. Separate shelving is allocated for each job for the build-up of kits. Kit's are made up for each operative and then issued to the production line on a just-in-time basis.
The policy to be adopted is agreed as part of the contract discussion.
Production Test
Test Capabilities
We have fully trained Technicians, and Test Engineers to oversee any testing required and are capable of implementing any test strategy that is required by the customer whether this be ICT or Functional. We are capable of building test equipment to customer specifications and carrying out any testing required on the PCB's.
